Adventure, Europe, Family

Skiing is a wonderful experience that ensures you, a loved one or your entire family get great exercise and an unforgettable experience. Every winter the slopes of Europe come alive and there’s no end to the choice on offer. For a change of scenery (pun intended) why not check out the South Tyrol region of Italy this ski season. A UNESCO world heritage site, this vast area links the Italian Alps to the Dolomites, the world’s highest coral reef, yes you read that right. Needless to say the scenery is breathtaking and some of the 3000+ metre high glacier ski slopes will do their best to take your breath away too. December is a great time to go skiing as the snow starts to fall and the ski slopes open their doors. The crowds usually wait until the new year so grab your skis and check out why South Tyrol is high on our list of places to go skiing in December.

First and foremost, South Tyrol has such a great range of ski regions and resorts that every need is catered for here. Kronplatz is probably the best family friendly ski resort in the area (although there are many others worth exploring). Kronplatz has over 116km of slopes and 31 lifts to keep you busy. At an altitude of 2275m you’re guaranteed great snow in December and some spectacular views too. Kronplatz is also one of the most modern resorts in the region so you can expect the best facilities for all the family. You don’t even need to carry bulky ski gear to the resort, they have everything you need right there including skis, boots, helmets and even some jackets and accessories. At the top of the peak at Kronplatz you’ll find the “Corncordia 2000 peace bell” marking the top of the mountain. Easily accessible and with amazing views in every direction.
