Luxury cruise ideas for your next holiday

Enjoy the Alaskan summer, cruising around the fiords and glaciers whilst the midnight sun lights your holiday evenings during July.

Cruise holidays have seen a huge increase in popularity over the last 3 decades. Over 20 million people a year enjoy the cruise ship lifestyle and there’s an increasing number of itineraries on offer to suit all types of adventurer. We’ve picked out a few of our favourites and why you should consider them for your next cruise holiday.

Caribbean & Panama Canal and Costa Rica

The Caribbean and central America have always been high on our list of luxury destinations to visit and this itinerary is hard to beat. Flying in to Miami, you’ll board the MSC Divina and set sail on a 10 night cruise taking you to Jamaica, on to Colombia and through the famous Panama canal that links the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Onwards to Puerto Limon in Costa Rica, one of our favourite countries in the world, then on to the coast of Mexico  before returning to Miami.

You’re sure to be pampered on the MSC Divina too as this luxury cruise liner was launched in 2012 so is filled with modern refinements and gorgeous ocean view suites. She can carry 3,959 passengers in 1,637 cabins. Her on board amenities really do take some beating. An infinity pool, a casino, night club and even a 4D cinema to entertain the kids.

Norway & Arctic Circle Luxury Cruise

If you’re looking for something a little different and don’t mind the colder temperatures then this is definitely worth considering. Sailing from Bergen in Norway, this 11 night cruise takes you in to the Arctic Circle up to Kirkenes with a whopping 34 port stops. This may seem a lot but these smaller cruise ships are much quicker and more nimble when it comes to stopping so you can visit a lot more destinations. They’re also geared towards adventure rather than lazy days at sea so each day will be filled with excitement both on the ship and on land. With this cruise there’s even a chance to see the elusive Northern Lights which dance across the night’s sky and are easily visible thanks to your remote location.

  • Prices around £900 per person but fluctuate by around £40 – £200 depending on the time of year.
  • Flights from London Gatwick to Bergen included

Following the traditional route down the Nile, this cruise gives you a chance to see the famous Luxor temples as well as the Valley of Kings, Hatshepsut temple, Aswan High Dam and Philae temple, among others. Of course this is more a river cruise boat with limited rooms giving this a much more exclusive feel compared to ocean liners. The en-suite rooms all have fantastic views as you float down this calm river. On board you’ll find a swimming pool along side bars, restaurants, sun decks and night time entertainment too.

After a week of cruising you’re transferred to the gorgeous 4-star Coral Beach Rotana Resort which boasts its own private beach and two swimming pools to relax by. Perfect to unwind after a week of Egyptian adventure. Time to read a good book, take a swim and soak up all those amazing memories.
