Top 5 Cruises to Meet Young and Single Travellers

Cruises aren’t just reserved for older couples! Here’s our guide to the best young and single friendly cruises in February

Cruises are a great way to see the world, escape the stress of daily life, enjoy a multi-faceted journey and meet new and interesting people. The idea of travelling alone can be intimidating for some, but cruises offer the perfect environment for solo travel in a safe environment with lots of activities catered toward singles.

This behemoth beauty is one of the prestigious P&O fleet. It boasts an incredible array of activities, amenities, entertainment, dining options and bars/lounges. It has several single cabins for the solo traveller, and is frequented by groups of singles sharing larger rooms too.

There’s an art gallery, bookstore and library for the more culturally-minded travellers, show lounges for the dramatic types, an open air cinema for film buffs, sporting facilities for the more physical cruiser and plenty of dining, drinking and dancing for all tastes. You’re bound to come across a likeminded single traveller on a water-bound wonderland like Azura.

Holland America Cruise Line

The Holland America Cruise Line offers cruises that are perfectly suited to the shy single or first time soloist. They have a “single partners program”, where each cruise hosts a gathering for single travellers at the beginning of the cruise.

There are also lots of activities tailored toward single travellers, like cooking classes, sports, dances and games. There’s plenty available for travellers to get involved in without needing a partner, and it’s the perfect way to spend time with fellow singles and make lots of new friends.

Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean offer a number of cruises over a vast fleet of incredible state-of-the-art cruise liners. These amazing ships are the perfect environment to meet young single travellers.

There are rock climbing walls and surf simulators, zip lining and ice skating, mini golf, sporting facilities – many options for active young travellers. For those who prefer to relax there are even whirlpools, gardens to walk through, open-air cinemas, day spas and boutique shopping. There are Broadway shows, fitness centres and adults only retreats. With so much to do there’s no excuse not to get out there and team up with some new travel buddies.

Norwegian Epic

Norwegian Cruise Lines’ singles liner the Norwegian Epic is considered to be one of the best cruise ships for singles to meet and mingle, having taken out the title of Travel Weekly Reader’s Choice “Best Cruise Ship” in 2011 and 2012.

This ship has studio rooms for singles that share a common living area, giving you the perfect environment for meeting fellow single travellers. There are 20 different options for dining, 11 bars/lounges, a spa, casino, bowling alley, comedy club, a theatre, even a walking track. With so much to do it’s easy to meet likeminded singles and have plenty of excuses to get together.

Crystal Cruises

Crystal Cruises run a specialised host program for singles called the Ambassador Host Program. Ambassadors help liaise between single female travellers and the onboard community. These hosts accompany guests to dances, meals, cocktail parties and shore excursions. Crystal Cruises have some really unique activities available, including classes in astronomy, dance and language.

Up to 15% of Crystal Cruises’ passengers are single travellers, meaning there will be plenty of other singles to mingle with. Crystal cruises do cater to a more mature demographic though, so if you’re really into clubbing or extreme sports this may be a little too relaxed.

There’s plenty of choice, and on any of these cruises you can rest assured that there’s a special effort made to accommodate single travellers and encourage mingling between guests cruising solo. If you’re ready to experience the vibrant single social scene aboard a luxury liner there’s been no better time to book your nautical adventure.
